CITY of Bristol College celebrated an impressive overall A-level pass rate of 97 per cent. And in 16 of the college's most popular subjects, including physics, English language and psychology, the pass rate soared to 100 per cent.

Among those toasting excellent grades at the college was Paisley-Mae Carter, who received two A*s and an A in further maths, maths and biology.

Paisley-Mae, who will read maths at Leeds University, said: "I'm lucky to have this opportunity and I feel over the moon with my results."

Judith Stradling, the college's interim principal, said: "We are extremely proud of our students and their achievements.

"In addition to our A-level students, the college's vocational students have also excelled, with over 1,000 learners achieving a Level 3 vocational qualification which will lead them on to university or straight into work.

"These excellent results reflect the hard work and commitment, as well as the fantastic quality of teaching, within the college and I wish each student the best of luck in the future."

Students performed particularly well in the subjects of psychology, sociology and history.

As well as A-levels and vocational qualifications, more than 1,000 students at the college undertook an apprenticeship in 2011/2012 with employers based in the South West.
